Slug Pelleting
In order to get the best out of your machine and to protect the use of metaldehyde, professional tray testing of your machine by SCS is a must.
Fully trained with expert knowledge of both the applicators and pellets, using SCS ensures that every application has the maximum effect. Application rate calibration and accurate spread pattern testing ensure pellets are used in the most efficient way and reduce costs to the farmer and damage to the environment.
Water companies, the Environment Agency, the Chemical Regulation Directorate and Defra have all expressed concern at the levels of metaldehyde residues in water.
While slugs remain the largest pest problem in the UK, there is a very real danger that if metaldehyde residues in water are not significantly reduced, then severe restrictions on its usage could well be imposed.
- MOT-Style Check - a thorough examination of the machine and its working parts. You will be presented with a checklist showing the condition of the machine and any recommended maintenance.
- Pellet analysis - a check of the pellets suitability for spreading using bulk density, strength and size. This is included on the report sheets as a record of the condition of the pellets when tested.
- Tray test analysis - a practical test, the pellets are counted and the numbers recorded.
- Calibration - where ever the spread pattern can be improved we calibrate the spreader accordingly, retest and record the corrected results.
